Alpine North Stake Eat Drink & Be Ready Night

It was a fun and  impressive night sampling delectable delights that you might not have guessed were artfully concocted from random shelf stable storage items. It was hands down the best version of potential survival mode I've ever seen.

We learned there's no reason the tummy can't stay both healthy and happy while practicing your rotation or survival skills. Alice Osborn showed how to get in those healthy biotics and a few awards were presented for best of show.

Fortunately, I was able to smuggle these prize recipes past the guards and get them into your hands. I hope you decide to try some of them out. At the very least, save them for an emergency. I only ask you save some Peach Cobbler for me, it was the prize winner for the night. I'm for sure ready for the apocalypse now.

The that everyone would be full after a sample at every table was an understatement. I actually had a difficult time packing it all in and I came very HUNGRY! It was a most enjoyable and creative stake activity and I look forward to next year.

👽If you have an amazing Emergency food storage recipe not already displayed here, please submit into the comments below. I have personally included my own magic Tomato FREE Catsup. Yep, it looks and tastes like actual catsup, but without the tomato for those who don't tollerate night shade vegetables so well.

Chicken & Rice

Garbanzo Bean in Coconut Milk Over Rice
I was surprised how nicely Asian this one tasted.

Day Cheese & Fruity Sprout Salad
I thought it was called Dry Cheese which would make perfect sense but it was surprisingly good and simple to make.

One of my fav's at this table was surprisingly the hard tack biscuit. Used in long sea voyages it gets double baked to a near candy cane hardness. I was impressed by how long it can allegedly last in storage whereas crackers and other carb items can't. can break a tooth but dissolves pretty quick in the mouth when sucked and is sort of addicting. What else you gonna do while sitting in your underground bunker?

Hearty Mixed Bean Soup

Chicken & Beans W/ Mushrooms
A mix-em-up surprise I guess. I believe this one was a response to a food challenge from three randomly selected cans of food. Now that's an episode of Iron Chef I'd like to see locally. Could preparedness get any more entertaining? Go ahead, grab a blindfold and give it a shot if you think you can do better.

Chocolate Chip Muffins

Harvest Lentil Soup
Lentils barley and rye are excellent for feeding critical gut bacteria. Alice was amazing at sharing her wisdom of health and how to keep digestive vitality alive. No matter how good it is, I know I can only make it so many days on freeze dried meals.

No-Knead & Baguette Bread
One of these pictures belongs to one or the other of these recipes. The Dutch oven one was pure culinary genius.

Soft & Chewy Granola Bars

Cilantro Lime Black Beans💖
Visitors selected this one as an event winner. I just love black beans too.

Chili Con Carne, Artisan Spoon Bread & Whoopie Pies

Stewp (cross between stew and soup)

Lemonade
Who knew lemon came in a powder?
