 Teachers Quorum High Adventure.

Last but not least we join the Teachers on the final youth adventure for 2021. What might have been last years adventure turned out to be a most incredible outdooring back country experience full of hikes, fishing, swimming, games, spiritual messages and scary stories. Although the age range of all 27 participating members varied greatly, the 6 mile pack-in to Lake Ethel was within everyone's capability. Being in Bear country always makes me nervous but fortunately the extra weight in bear spray was an unnecessary burden. 

 The freeze dried meals were top notch as far as freeze-dried goes ("Mt. Berry Granola" & "Beef Pasta marinara" just for future reference) but a greater appreciation for life's luxuries were certainly obtained by all. Brother Frazier forgot his fuel yet there was more than enough resource to go around and with all the fish being caught (Cutthroat, Brookies, Rainbow and even the rare Golden trout) I think we were living pretty fat on the land. Corn Hole, entire bottles of Tylenol, bags of jerky and high back camping chairs were among the few luxuries some were willing to pack in. Everyone was so generous and shared around and the feeling of unity was amazing.

Most memorable for me was the 4-5 mile morning hike where we spent day 4 at Lake Vera. We fished, made fire, escaped the heat by an dip in the cold lake, and enjoyed brother Johnsons lemon pepper fish fry before a scenic hike back to camp facing sunset.

Camp Tifie

The Deacons embark on three days of fun and adventure.

It was a real treat to take a few days and play with the boys who were, as always, so full of energy and spunk. Learning to hear and recognize the spirit was the theme and, although looks may be deceiving, the boys were very impressionable to the lessons.

We faced some unexpected but pleasing turns in the otherwise scorching hot weather. Thunder, rain and even some hail made for soothing afternoons & chili nights. Still, this would not stop the boys from swimming, looting the Trading Post, and terrorizing the more well mannered girls camp groups with night time animal noises; the presence of whom were admittedly odd for an intended "boys" adventure. 

Tie dye Shirts, whittling, ropes courses and the shooting range proved to be "firsts" for some participants and the food was awfully good...'er well, I mean as good and awful as you might expect. It is therefore with great enthusiasm that we award Camp Tifie an A+ and Gold Star for delivering exactly what was expected and more. May these adventures live forever in the hearts and minds of these good young men. If not... well, then hopefully the following video can help refresh:

David Day

 The Young Men threw David a special evening.

This activity happened a while ago but I just found it in my archives and decided it belongs here. 

Feeling concern that David was maybe less excited about some of the same weekly activities as the other boys, the Young Men decided to spend an mutual night doing whatever David wanted. They also just wanted to pay special attention and make David feel loved. They arranged his favorite meal at the park (McDonalds happy meal)  and a basket full of goodies. This was truly a beautiful evening.

David has impressed us with the things he does (remember the David hike in Moab?) and we know he loves his quorum. We can't tell who has given who more to who but we are all better because of him.

The Cove Ward was back at it again running around and getting some spring cleaning done after a year of restricted activities. It really felt good to get back out and serve together.

Going forward I hope to be able to show how ward activities, service projects and personal experiences can be submitted and converted into inspiring videos that even our missionaries might share with investigators across the world. Why not? I mean how cool would that be?

Easter Egg Hunt

 The Primary gathers at the Samuelians

It was Saturday morning and one thing we all noticed and appreciated about the calm sunny morning was how incredibly calm it was. The air was perfectly still and the warm sun was nearly surreal. It was the perfect day for and Easter egg hunt and we are incredibly grateful to Sister Samuelian for hosting the event. She loves the primary children SO MUCH! We are still getting use to having gatherings again and these are among some of those times the kids always remember.

As the new ward historian, I will begin using this blog as a platform for posting our ward histories. I would hope to make more videos of inspiring stories taking place in our ward to share with everyone. Traditionally, ward histories are summited to the church but never easily available for review. These videos are like a testimony meeting full of little nuggets to inspire faith and testimony. Our ward and full time missionaries are a great blessing and I hope this video can inspire others to serve in Faith.
